In the class of right duo rings (i.e. in which every right ideal is two-sided) the author introduces the notion of a ring with locally definite ideals. The main result of the paper: Let \(R\) be a right duo ring which satisfies the condition \((\forall{\mathcal M}\in\text{mspec}(R))\) \((\forall r\in R)\) \((\forall d\in R\setminus{\mathcal M})\) \((\exists c\in R)\) \((\exists d'\in R\setminus{\mathcal M})\): \(rd'=drc\). The ring \(R\) is a ring with locally definite ideals if and only if every nonzero prime ideal of \(R\) is contained in a unique maximal right ideal. Rings with the property that each prime ideal lies in a unique maximal ideal are also considered.
