    Let \(\Delta\) be the forward difference operator defined on scalar sequences \(a = (a_n)_n\) by \(\Delta a_n = a_n - a_{n+1}\) and set \(C_{n, k} = {n\choose {k}} \Delta^{n-k} a_k \quad k \leq n\). The Hausdorff matrix \(H (a)\) is defined by \((H (a))_{ij} = \begin{cases} 0, & i < j\\ C_{ij}, & i \geq j \end{cases}\). It induces two operators on spaces of power series which are formally given by \[ \begin{aligned} H (a) \Biggl( \sum^{\infty}_0 \alpha_n Z^n \Biggr) &= \sum^{\infty}_{n=0} \Biggl( \sum^n_{k=0} C_{n, k} a_k \Biggr) Z^n\qquad\text{and}\\ A (a) \Biggl( \sum^{\infty}_0 \alpha_n Z^n \Biggr) &= \sum^{\infty}_{k=0} \Biggl( \sum^{\infty}_{n=k} C_{n, k} a_n \Biggr) Z^k. \end{aligned} \] The authors present necessary and sufficient conditions on \(a = a (\mu) \) related to \(a\) Borel measure \(\mu\) on \(] 0, 1 ]\) in order that \(H (a)\) and \(A (a)\) induce bounded linear operators on the Hardy spaces \(H^p\), \(1 \leq p < \infty\).
