Numerical determination of the Titchmarsh-Weyl \(m\)-coefficient (Q5954341)

The authors propose a numerical method for calculating the Titchmarsh-Weyl \(m_{\alpha}(\lambda)\)-coefficient for the differential equation \(d^2y/dx^2+[1-q(x)]y=0\) and test this method for the case \(q(x)=x\) and \(x^2\), for which \(m_{\lambda}(\alpha)\) has a known analytic form in term of special functions. An independent assessment of the accuracy of proposed results using the analytical solution for \(m_{\alpha}(\lambda)\) and a different numerical method enable the authors to demonstrate the high accuracy of the computation.
