The classical problem of electro-magneto statics is considered to determine a vector field \(v\) satisfying NEWLINE\[NEWLINE\text{curl }v= w,\quad \text{div }v= fNEWLINE\]NEWLINE in a domain \(\Omega\) with bounded complement is considered under suitable decay assumption on the data. If \(\partial\Omega\) is non-empty and smooth additional Neumann (\(n\cdot v= 0\) on \(\partial\Omega\)) or Dirichlet (\(n\times v= 0\) on \(\partial\Omega)\) boundary conditions together with a finite number of topological conditions have to be imposed to obtain a wellposed problem. Depending on the decay assumptions on the data, matching growth or decay conditions for the solution are given to ensure solvability. For weak decay of the data uniqueness cannot be assured, but a characterization of the space of homogeneous solutions is given. In the uniqueness case continuous dependence results with respect to Hölder norms are obtained.
