Given \(0<a<1\), the authors construct an example of a smooth bounded pseudoconvex domain \(D=\{z\in\mathbb C^2\: r(z)<0\}\) with the defining function of the form \(r(z)=\rho(z_1)+\text{Re}z_2+b|z_2|^2\), where \(\rho\) is subharmonic, \(\rho(0)=0\), and \(b>0\), for which: (i) the Levi degeneracy set has the form \(\{(0,z_2)\in\partial D\: |z_2-1/2b|=1/2b\}\), (ii) there is no constant \(C>0\) such that there exists a neighborhood \(U\) of \(0\) with \[ B_D(z;X)\geq C\frac{|X_1r'_{z_1}(z)+X_2r'_{z_2}(z)|} {|r(z)|(\log 1/|r(z)|)^{1/1+2a}},\quad z\in D\cap U, \] where \(B_D\) denotes the Bergman metric for \(D\).
