On a Pythagorean-type functional equation with exponent 3 involving finite fields (Q5954685)

Using earlier results on the solutions of the functional equation \[ f(x^3+ y^3)= f(x^3)+ f(y^3), \] the authors investigate the functional equation \[ f(x^3+ y^3)= f(x)^3+ f(y)^3 \] over finite fields. They characterize all solutions and they give descriptions of them depending on the characteristic of the field and on the cardinality thereof.
