The author considers a convolution-type integral equation of the first kind with a kernel depending on an unknown numerical parameter \(\sigma\). The exact parameter \(\sigma^*\) is unknown, but an approximation \(\widetilde{\sigma}\) to \(\sigma^*\) is available. In the class of functions \(x^*\) that are representable as the sum of a finite number of delta functions and a smooth background function, a stable iterative algorithm for finding the pair \(\{\sigma^*,x^*\}\) is designed.
