This paper deals with the Dirichlet problem for an elliptic equation with convective terms on a strip. The highest derivatives of the equation are multiplied by a parameter \({\varepsilon}>0\). Classical difference approximations on successively locally condensing grid are analyzed for the boundary value problem. Special difference schemes are constructed that provide approximations that are uniformly convergent in \(\varepsilon\) on the (initial) coarse grid and convergent on a fine grid (within a boundary layer) with an error slightly depending on \(\varepsilon\).
