Construction and implementation of finite-difference schemes for systems of diffusion equations with localized chemical reactions (Q5954744)

Second-order accurate finite-difference schemes are constructed on uniform grids for systems of diffusion equations with localized nonlinear chemical reactions. The proposed algorithm for eliminating the unknowns that correspond to linear difference equations substantially reduces the time required to iterate the nonlinear terms. Numerical experiments demonstrate that the algorithm is efficient as compared to conventional ones.
