Some further generalizations of the Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of functional equations (Q5955042)

Let \(G\neq\emptyset\) be a set with a binary operation \(x\ast y\in G\) such that the left powers (\(x^1=x\), \(x^{m+1}=x\ast x^m\)) satisfy \(x^{m+n}=x^m\ast x^n\) for all \(m,n\in\mathbb N\) and all \(x\in G\). Such a set \(G\) is called a power-associative groupoid [cf. \textit{J. Rätz}, General inequalities 2, ISNM Vol. 47, 233-251 (1980; Zbl 0433.39014)]. Let \(E\) be a real or complex Hausdorff topological vector space. The stability of the functional equations \[ \begin{aligned} f(x\ast y)&=f(x)+f(y)\qquad\text{(Cauchy equation),}\\ f(x\ast y)&=g(x)+h(y)\qquad\text{(Pexider equation),}\\ 2f\bigl((x\ast y)^{1\over 2}\bigr)&=f(x)+f(y)\qquad\text{(Jensen equation)} \end{aligned} \] for functions \(f,g,h:G\to E\) is proved. In the proofs the direct method is used. The results obtained in the paper generalize earlier results due to Rätz [loc. cit.], \textit{P. Gǎvruta} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 184, No. 3, 431-436 (1994; Zbl 0818.46043)], \textit{K.-W. Jun, D.-S. Shin} and \textit{B.-D. Kim} [ibid. 239, 20-29 (1999; Zbl 0940.39021)], \textit{Y.-H. Lee} and \textit{K.-W. Jun} [ibid. 238, No. 1, 305-315 (1999; Zbl 0933.39053)]. The authors of the three last papers dealt with the case of an abelian group \(G\) as a domain, while Rätz considered power-associative groupoids defined as above.
