The author proves global existence, uniqueness and regularity results for the initial value problem for the Vlasov-Poisson-Fokker-Planck system in one, two and three dimensions. The main novelty dealt with here is the two-dimensional case, as the case of three dimensions was covered in earlier work of this author (in collaboration with W. Strauss). Both repulsive and attractive interactions are dealt with by the main theorem; under slightly weaker assumptions on the initial data (essentially boundedness assumptions in \(L^1,\) and boundedness of the kinetic theory) a global existence result is obtained for the repulsive case.
