The paper under review studies the Hofer geometry for exact loops of Lagrangian submanifolds of a symplectic manifold. An exact loop of Lagrangian submanifolds is an \(S^1\)-family of such manifolds that is generated by Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms. Given such a loop \(\Lambda\), the invariant \(\nu(\Lambda)\) is defined by the authors to be the minimal Hofer length over the Hamiltonian isotopy class of \(\Lambda\). To study this invariant, the authors introduce two other invariants, \(\chi(\Lambda)\) and \(\varepsilon(\Lambda)\). The former is called the relative \(K\)-area and latter called the width of the nonsymplectic interval. One of the main theorems in the paper is a relation among these invariants. Namely, \(\varepsilon\leq \chi =\nu\). The authors determine exact values of these invariants for loops of projective Lagrangian planes. The proof uses the Gromov invariants of an associated symplectic fibration over the \(2\)-disc with a Lagrangian subbundle over the boundary.
