      The authors investigate a non-torsionally generated unsteady hydromagnetic flow in a semi-infinite electrically conducting rotating viscous fluid bounded by an infinite non-conducting porous disc. It is supposed that the fluid at infinity rotates about an axis parallel to \(z\)-axis and passing through the point \((x_1,y_1)\). The authors study how the external magnetic field, the rotation, and the suction or blowing influence the flow. Exact solution is obtained for a linear third-order equation; this solution depends on \(z\) and \(t\). The solution is studied in three cases, namely for the angular velocity of rotation greater, equal, or smaller than the half of the oscillation frequency. The authors recover some different known cases, and discuss boundary layer effects and resonance phenomena.
