The paper is addressed to the question of how to define the notion of spinors in a purely ``affine theory of gravity''. The authors show that one can introduce some ``spinor formalism'' also in the case where gravity is geometrically described by a connection which has no a priori relation to a metric. It is shown that the introduced formalism reduces to the standard formalism for special or approximate solutions to the gravitational equations. Moreover, the authors demonstrate how their approach may be used to overcome the ``Weyl-Cartan space problem''.
