The authors of this interesting paper investigate the local existence and stability for the partial functional-differential equations with infinite delay, \[ dx(t)/dt=Ax(t)+F(x_t), \quad t\geq 0 \] under the initial condition \(x_0=\varphi \in \mathcal B\). Here \(A\) is a closed linear operator on a Banach space \((E,|.|)\), the phase space \(\mathcal B\) is a linear space of functions mapping \((-\infty ,0]\) into \(E\) satisfying some axioms which are described in the sequel, \(F\) is an \(E\)-valued appropriate function, and for every \(t\geq 0\), the function \(x_t\in \mathcal B\) is defined by \(x_t(\theta)=x(t+\theta)\) for \(\theta \in (-\infty ,0]\). The problem is studied without assuming that \(A\) is densely defined. The local existence and regularity of solutions with a local Lipschitz condition on \(F\) are discussed. The investigation is extended to the case of infinite delay. In the case of global existence, some properties of the solution map are shown. The stability of the trivial solution is discussed using a method based on the integrated semigroup theory. The stability near equilibrium is studied and it is proved that if the linearized semigroup around equilibrium is exponentially stable, then the equilibrium of the considered problem is also exponentially stable. Some interesting applications to a reaction-diffusion equation with infinite delay are discussed as well.
