The authors propose an effective and practical viscoelastic constitutive equation of rubber valid under small oscillatory loads superimposed on large static deformation. The constitutive model is derived by linearization of a nonlinear viscoelastic constitutive model and by using reference configuration transformation due to \textit{J. C. Simo} [Comput. Methods Appl. Mech. Eng. 60, 153--173 (1987; Zbl 0588.73082)]. The influence of pre-strain on relaxation function is taken into account, and this influence is described by static deformation correction factors. The natural statically pro-deformed state is taken as reference configuration. The proposed constitutive model is verified through dynamic compression tests using rubber specimens with different carbon black contents. Test results show good agreement with the proposed constitutive equation and static deformation correction factor. This well written paper is organized as follows: 1. Introduction; 2. Viscoelastic constitutive equation (2.1. Notation, 2.2. Linearized Simo's viscoelastic model (2.2.1. Stress and strain with respect to different configurations, 2.2.2. Linearization of Simo's model), 2.3. Objective incremental viscoelastic constitutive equation, 2.4. Static deformation correction factor); 3. Material test (3.1. Compression test, 3.2. Calculation using constitutive equation (3.2.1. Constitutive equation under uniaxial deformation, 3.2.2. Determination of the parameters in constitutive equation), 3.3. Results and discussion (3.3.1. Dynamic compression test, 3.3.2. Static deformation correction factor)); 4. Conclusion; References.
