The paper establishes a minimax theorem for a function defined on spaces with no linear structure, by using a kind of connectedness instead of convexity. The theorem generalizes the result of \textit{H. König} [ Arch. Math. 19, 482--487 (1968; Zbl 0179.21001)]{} and, \textit{a fortiori}, the classical Ky Fan minimax theorem. (The paper has been published twice; see also [\textit{A. Stefanescu}, ``Convexity beyond vector spaces, alternative theorems and minimax equality'', Advanced Modeling Optimization 1, 12--29 (1999)]).
