An open set \(U\) in a topological space \(X\) is called minimal open if \(U\) does not properly contain a nonempty open set. The authors study this concept and relate it to the notion of preopen sets. Also, the relationship to locally finite spaces, i.e. spaces which can be covered by finite open sets, is investigated.
