Given a continuum \(X\), consider a class \({\mathcal F}_{X}\) of continua \(Y\) such that: (i) no member of \({\mathcal F}_{X}\) is homeomorphic to \(X\), (ii) no two distinct members of \({\mathcal F}_{X}\) are homeomorphic, (iii) \(C(X) \approx C(Y)\) for each \(Y \in {\mathcal F}_{X}\) (the symbol \(C(X)\) denotes the hyperspace of all subcontinua of \(X\) with the Hausdorff metric), (iv) \({\mathcal F}_{X}\) is the maximal class satisfying conditions (i)--(iii). A continuum \(X\) has a unique hyperspace if the class \({\mathcal F}_{X}\) is empty; a continuum \(X\) has almost unique hyperspace if \({\mathcal F}_{X}\) is nonempty and finite. It is proved, among others, that: (1) the indecomposable continua such that all of its proper and nondegenerate subcontinua are arcs have unique hyperspace, (2) arcwise connected circle-like continua have almost unique hyperspace, (3) the hyperspace of subcontinua of the Warsaw circle is homeomorphic to the hyperspace of subcontinua of the \(\sin ( \frac{1}{x})\)-continuum with an extended limit arc. Examples are given of some classes of continua whose members are C-determined (e.g. nonarcwise connected circle-like continua or the class of generalized Warsaw circles). This is a partial answer to a question by \textit{S. B. Nadler jun..} [Hyperspaces of sets, Monogr. Textb. Pure Appl. Math. 49 (1978; Zbl 0432.54007), Questions 0.62].
