Reflection and transmission in pre-stressed stratified multilayers. (Q5957444)

This study is devoted to waves in multylayer anisotropic prestressed solid media. The cell of the medium is a slab within which the material properties vary continuously, whereas at the slab interfaces the material properties can suffer a jump. The field in each slab is derived, and all fields are put together via an integral equation including the propagation matrix. The layered medium contains a finite number of slabs and is sandwiched between two homogeneous half-spaces. For this layered structure, the authors derive the coefficients for longitudinal wave propagation. Next, oblique incident waves and horizontally polarized waves are discussed. The calculations are carried in an elegant and concise way.
