[For part III see \textit{T. Yoshida}, Adv. Stud. Pure Math. 32, 465-474 (2001; see the preceding review Zbl 1025.20008).] For finite groups \(A\) and \(G\), the authors consider the following condition \(H(A,G)\): \(|\Hom(A,G)|\equiv 0\bmod\gcd(|A|,|G|)\), and prove that \(H(A,G)\) holds in the case when \(A\) is of odd order and, for every prime \(p\) dividing \(|A/A'|\), a Sylow \(p\)-subgroup of \(A/A'\) is the direct product of a cyclic group and either a cyclic group of order \(p^2\) or an elementary Abelian \(p\)-group. For other cases in which the condition \(H(A,G)\) is proved to hold see \textit{T. Yoshida} [Algebra 156, No. 1, 125-156 (1993; Zbl 0827.20033)], \textit{T. Asai, T. Yoshida} [J. Algebra 160, No. 1, 273-285 (1993; Zbl 0827.20034)], and \textit{T. Asai, Y. Takegahara} [Hokkaido Math. J. 28, No. 3, 535-543 (1999; Zbl 0948.20016)]. The question whether the condition \(H(A,G)\) holds in general is still open.
