Let \(F\) be an algebraically closed field of characteristic \(p>0\), and let \(G\) be a finite group. An \(FG\)-module \(M\) is called connected if \(\text{End}_{FG}(M)\) has a unique block. In this situation \textit{L.~Barker} [J. Algebra 168, No. 3, 728-740 (1994; Zbl 0837.20009)] has attached to \(M\) a \(p\)-subgroup \(D\) of \(M\), the defect group of \(M\), unique up to conjugation. The authors prove that if, for \(i=1,2\), \(G_i\) is a finite group and \(M_i\) is a connected \(FG_i\)-module with defect group \(D_i\) then \(M_1\otimes M_2\) is a connected \(F[G_1\times G_2]\)-module with vertex \(D_1\times D_2\).
