Given a class \(C'\) of objects in a category \({\mathcal C}\), a \(C'\)-factorization system \((E,M)\) in \({\mathcal C}\) is essentially what you get from the definition of a factorization system if you require only the morphisms with codomains in \(C'\) to be \((E,M)\)-factorizable (in particular, all \(M\)-morphisms have their codomain in \(C'\)). The author calls them local, but they should not be confused with the local factorization systems of \textit{A. Carboni, G. Janelidze, G. M. Kelly} and \textit{R. Paré} [Appl. Categ. Struct. 5, No. 1, 1-58 (1997; Zbl 0866.18003)]. The relation between \({c}\)-factorization systems and the reflective subcategories of the slice categories \(C/c\) is studied, using results from the paper cited above and of \textit{C. Cassidy, M. Hébert} and \textit{G. M. Kelly} [J. Austr. Math. Soc., Ser. A 38, 287-329 (1985; Zbl 0573.18002)]. Conditions under which one can glue a complete family of \({c}\)-factorization systems to obtain a (ordinary) factorization system are given, as well as other ways to construct factorization systems.
