A realization of 2-D adaptive finite impulse response filters using the affine projection algorithm is proposed. The convergence of the algorithm is proved, and it is extended to the more general case. The convergence property of the algorithm is superior to that of the usual 2-D least mean square and normalized least mean square algorithms. The algorithm is applied to 2-D system identification.
