Recently, a convergence analysis of wavelet Galerkin schemes was developed by \textit{S. M. Gomes} and \textit{E. Cortina} [SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 33, No.~1, 149-161 (1996; Zbl 0845.65048)] which relies on the choice of certain scaling functions. The present paper provides a large class of scaling functions for which the analysis developed in the paper by Gomes and Cortina will be applicable.
