A module \(M\) is called \(\pi\)-projective provided that for any decomposition \(M=U+V\) the epimorphism \(U\oplus V\to M\) given by \((u,v)\to u+v\) splits. The author studies such modules over a bounded hereditary Noetherian prime ring \(R\) and proves that \(M\) is finitely generated projective over \(R/\text{ann}_R(M)\) if and only if \(M\) is \(\pi\)-projective with finite Goldie dimension, and \(M\) either has no injective direct summand or \(R\) is a simple Artinian ring. Furthermore, a complete description is given of the structure of \(\pi\)-projective modules with nonzero singular submodule.
