This paper addresses a problem posed in \textit{S. N. Burris'} recent book ``Number theoretic density and logical limit laws'' (2001; Zbl 0995.11001); we refer the reader there for basic definitions. A number system is said to have property I in the additive case if all partition sets have asymptotic density, in the multiplicative case if all partition sets have global asymptotic density. The problem is to decide when the combination (a sort of direct product) of two number systems has property I. The author solves the important case when the number systems themselves have property I. Under the natural restriction that the systems are reduced (in the additive case) or strictly multiplicative (in the multiplicative case), this condition aready turns out to be sufficient. In the general case the answer depends on the periods and radii (abscissae) of convergence. NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEShe also gives an example (for the additive case) where the combination has property I, though one of the components does not.
