It is known that the series \(\frac{a_0}2+\sum_{k=1}^{\infty} a_k\cos kx\) is the Fourier series, provided that its coefficients belong to the class \(S\) of sequences, i.e., \(a_k\to 0\) and there exists a monotone decreasing sequence \(\{A_k\}\) such that \(\sum A_k<\infty\) and \(|\Delta a_k|\leq A_k\). In the paper it is shown that the replacement of the requirement of the monotonicity of the sequence \(\{A_k\}\) by that of its quasimonotonicity or \(\delta\)-quasimonotonicity does not yield the extension of the class~\(S\).
