Conditions of kinking for an elastic rod (Q5960269)

The authors discuss the problem of loop formation for a flexible rod. As a model, a thin linearly elastic rod is taken which is exposed to a torsion moment and to a tensile (or compressive) force. Following the investigations started in [\textit{M. V. Los'} and \textit{A. E. Ordanovich}, Mosc. Univ. Mech. Bull. 49, No.~5, 6-13 (1994); translation from Vestn. Mosk. Univ., Ser. I 1994, 48-54 (1994; Zbl 0899.73207)], the authors study two additional models of loop formation under the change of loading regimes.
