The initial-boundary value problem for the equation \[ [C_{ij}(x)u_{,j}]_{,i} - \mu(x)\dot u - \rho(x)\ddot u + X(x,t) = 0\tag{1} \] is considered in a bounded domain where \(t\in \mathbb{R}\), \(x\in \mathbb{R}^3\), \(C_{ij} = C_{ji}\), and \(\mu\) and \(\rho\) are integrable functions. The author presents an integral correlation which connects the solution of the initial-boundary value problem (1) with a similar problem for the equation with constant coefficients.
