Let \(\mathcal A\) denote the class of all analytic functions in the unit disc \(\Delta=\{|z|<1\}\) such that \(f(0)=f'(0)-1=0\). Let \({\mathcal S}^*\) denote the set of all functions \(f\in {\mathcal A}\) that are univalent in \(\Delta\) and \(f(\Delta)\) is a domain that is starlike with respect to the origin. Define \(M_{2,\mu}=\{f\in{\mathcal A}: |zf''(z)|<\mu\}\), \(\mu_*=\sup\{\mu: M_{2,\mu}\subseteq {\mathcal S}^*\}\) and \(\mu_{\mathcal K}=\sup\{\mu: M_{2,\mu}\subseteq {\mathcal K}\}\), where \(\mathcal K\) denotes the class of all functions \(f\) in \({\mathcal S}^*\) such that \(f(\Delta)\) is a convex domain. Mocanu posed the problem of determining \(\mu_*\). Earlier the author has proved that \(\mu_*=1\) and \(\mu_{\mathcal K}=1/2\). In this paper, the author has answered these questions in a stronger form by replacing \({\mathcal S}^*\) and \(\mathcal K\) by proper subsets of these sets. Also, in this paper, the author has determined precise upper bounds on \(\mu_1\) and \(\mu_2\) such that \(\{f\in {\mathcal A}: |z(zh'(z))''|<\mu_1\}\) and \(\{f\in {\mathcal A}: |z(zh'')'|<\mu_2\}\) are subsets of \({\mathcal S}^*\) and \(\mathcal K\). Finally, the author presents certain convolution results concerning these subsets.
