It is known that the formula of variation of parameters and the method of Lyapunov functions are both extremely useful and effective techniques in the study of the effect of perturbations of differential equations. These methods, however, indicate that one measures the perturbation by means of a norm and thus destroys the good nature, if any, of the perturbing terms. Recently, a new variational Lyapunov method was developed to correct this unpleasant situation. In this paper, by using this variational Lyapunov method, some criteria on properties of solutons to perturbed differential equations, such as stability and boundedness, are established. It is shown that the solutions to the perturbed differential system have stronger properties than those to the corresponding nonperturbed differential system. Some examples to illustrate the results on uniform asymptotic stability, uniform boundedness and ultimate uniform boundedness of solutions are provided.
