The author develops a procedure for constructing a real function \(E(x,y)\) with the property \(\int E(x,y) f(y)dy =f(x)\) for infinitely many linear independent functions \(f\) where \(x,y\in \mathbb{R}\). Bateman's function \([\sin (x-y)]/ \pi (x-y)\) is an example of such a function. The existence of \(E(x,y)\) allows to interpret the multiplication NEWLINE\[NEWLINEK(x,y) \circ F(y,z) =\int K(x,y) F(y,z)dyNEWLINE\]NEWLINE of real functions \(K\) and \(F\) as the analytic version of matrix multiplication.
