The paper under review deals with the numerical invariants of isotrivial fibrations \(\varphi: X \to C\) where \(X\) is a smooth projective surface and \(C\) a curve. It is well known that every isotrivial fibration is birationally equivalent to a standard one, i.e. to the minimal desingularization of \(T:=(C_1\times C_2)/G\), the quotient of a product of curves for the diagonal action of the finite group \(G\). If the quotient \(T\) is smooth it is also called a quasi-bundle. One of the results of the paper is that, for any set of rational numbers \(\mathcal S:=\{\frac{q_1}{n_1},\dots,\frac{q_r}{n_r}\}\) such that \(\sum_i \frac{q_i}{n_i}=1\), there exists a standard isotrivial fibration whose singular fibres contain Hirzebruch-Jung strings of type \((\frac{q_1}{n_1},\dots,\frac{q_r}{n_r})\). The author also studies the numerical invariants of the minimal models of isotrivial fibrations sharpening the known bounds [see \textit{F. Serrano}, Ann. Mat. Pura Appl., IV. Ser. 171, 63--81 (1996; Zbl 0884.14016)] when the surface \(X\) is not isomorphic to a quasi-bundle and when \(K_X\) is ample.
