Periodic points for area-preserving birational maps of surfaces (Q5962171)

This paper is concerned with periodic points of an iterated birational map on a projective complex surface. If \(f: X\to X\) is such a map, the authors address the problem of estimating the number \(\# Per_n^i(f)\) of isolated periodic points of \(f\) of period \(n\), as \(n\to\infty\), in the nontrivial case when \(f\) admits curves of fixed points. In this situation they provide an asymptotic estimate for \(\# Per_n^i(f)\).
