The paper handles with affine immersions \(f: (M^n,\nabla)\to(\mathbb{R}^{n+p}, D)\) (\(p\geq 2\)) in the sense of Nomizu and its normal sections by a \((p+1)\)-plane through the normal \(p\)-space of \(f\) at a point \(x\in M^n\), being locally a curve \(\gamma\). For example \(f\) has pointwise planar normal sections, if \(f\) has planar geodesics (autoparallel curves), but not conversely. The author specializes in non-degenerate surfaces in \(\mathbb{R}^4\) with Nomizu-Vrancken normal bundle and in non-degenerate immersions with maximal codimension \(p={1\over 2}n(n+1)\) and the Sasaki normal bundle. In this case he may classify all immersions with planar geodesics or -- equivalently -- all immersions with planar normal sections.
