The author considers a time periodic problem for the compressible Navier-Stokes equation for barotropic flow in \(\mathbb{R}^n (n \geq 3)\). The existence of a time periodic solution in the entire space can be proved in case of a sufficiently small time periodic external force. The basis of the proof consists in spectral properties of the time-T-map associated with the linearized problem. Furthermore, it can be proved that the time periodic solution is asymptotically stable under sufficiently small initial perturbations. The \(L^\infty\)-norm of the perturbation decays as time goes to infinity. The paper is very comprehensive and self-contained. All necessary auxiliary material is prepared and proven in detail. The bibliography contains 17 items.
