The idea of statistical convergence was formerly given under the name ``almost convergence'' by \textit{A. Zygmund} in the first edition of his celebrated monograph published in Warsaw in 1935 (see [Trigonometric series. Volumes I and II combined. With a foreword by Robert Fefferman. 3rd ed. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press (2002; Zbl 1084.42003)]). The concept was formally introduced by \textit{H. Fast} [Colloq. Math. 2, 241--244 (1951; Zbl 0044.33605)] and later reintroduced by \textit{I. J. Schoenberg} [Am. Math. Mon. 66, 361--375, 562--563 (1959; Zbl 0089.04002)], and also independently by \textit{R. C. Buck} [Am. J. Math. 75, 335--346 (1953; Zbl 0050.05901)]. Recently, the definition of weighted statistical convergence was first introduced by \textit{V. Karakaya} and \textit{T. A. Chishti} [``Weighted statistical convergence'', Iranian J. Sci. Technol. Trans. A 33, No. A3, 219--223 (2009)]. Later on the definition was modified by \textit{M. Mursaleen} et al. [Appl. Math. Comput. 218, No. 18, 9132--9137 (2012; Zbl 1262.40004)]. Using the definition modified by Mursaleen et al. [loc. cit.], the author introduces some new definitions of the convergence of a sequence of random variables in probability, investigates their interrelations. A partial answer to an open problem posed by \textit{P. Das} and \textit{E. Savas} [Bull. Iran. Math. Soc. 40, No. 2, 459--472 (2014; Zbl 1317.40001)] is also given.
