A new kind of trivariate \(C^1\) macro-element (Q596369)

The authors present a new trivariate \(C^1\) quintic macro-element over a special tetrahedral partition, called centrical octahedral partition. In the construction they use the B-form instead of the traditional nodal values. They compare the new element with the known trivariate \(C^1\) macro-elements over tetrahedral partitions from several points of view (dimension, approximation power, storage of the macro-element). Furthermore they improve the Alfeld construction of a \(C^1\) quintic macro-element so that all quintic polynomials can be reproduced by using this modified macro-element.
