The asymptotic dimension \(\text{asdim}\,X\) and the asymptotic Assouad-Nagata dimension \(\text{asdim}_{AN}X\) of a metric space \(X\) have been studied by many authors. In this paper, the authors introduce an analogous concept to these dimensions, named the asymptotic power dimension \(\text{asdim}_{P}X\) of a metric space \(X\), and investigate this dimension. The definition is as follows: Let \(\mathcal A\) be a family in a metric space \((X,d)\), \(r>0\) and \(b>0\). \(\mathcal A\) is said to be \textit{\(r\)-disjoint} if \(d(A,B)\geq r\) for every distinct \(A, B\in{\mathcal A}\), and \(\mathcal A\) is called \textit{\(b\)-bounded} if \(\text{mesh}({\mathcal A})\leq b\). For each nonnegative integer \(n\), the notion \((r,b)\)-\(\dim X\leq n\) means that there exist \(r\)-disjoint and \(b\)-bounded families \({\mathcal U}_0, {\mathcal U_1},\ldots,{\mathcal U_n}\) of subsets of \(X\) such that \(\bigcup\limits_{i=0}^n{\mathcal U}_i\) is a cover of \(X\). The \textit{asymptotic power dimension} of a metric space \(X\) does not exceed \(n\), \(\text{asdim}_{P}X\leq n\), if there exist \(\alpha>0\) and \(r_0>0\) such that \((r,r^{\alpha})\)-\(\dim X\leq n\) for all \(r>r_0\). Then it is easy to see that for any metric space \(X\), \(\text{asdim}\,X\leq\text{asdim}_{P}X\leq \text{asdim}_{AN}X\). The authors give an example of a metric space \(X\) such that \(\text{asdim}\,X=0\), \(\text{asdim}_{P}X=1\) and \(\text{asdim}_{AN}X=2\). They also show that the asymptotic power dimension is tightly connected with the class of Hölder maps. Indeed, they show that for large scale Hölder equivalent metric spaces \(X\) and \(Y\), \(\text{asdim}_{P}X=\text{asdim}_{P}Y\). Furthermore, they give estimates for the asymptotic power dimension of symmetric and hypersymmetric products.
