The authors consider two natural classes of minimal laminations in three-manifolds. Both classes may be thought of as limits -- in different senses -- of embedded minimal disks. In both cases, they prove that, under a natural geometric assumption on the three-manifold, the leaves of these laminations have genus zero. This answers a question posed by D. Hoffman and B. White. The paper concludes with two very useful appendices. Appendix A is devoted to two examples, namely ``one-sided limit leaf'' and ``torus limit leaf'' and Appendix B deals with a statement of the curvature estimate for embedded minimal disks with an uniform area bound proved by \textit{R. Schoen} and \textit{L. Simon} [Ann. Math. Stud. 103, 127--145 (1983; Zbl 0544.53001)].
