From the introduction: ``A Banach space \(X\) is called subprojective if every closed infinite-dimensional subspace of \(X\) contains an infinite-dimensional subspace complemented in \(X\), and \(X\) is called superprojective if every infinite-codimensional subspace of \(X\) is contained in an infinite-codimensional subspace complemented in \(X\). These two classes of Banach spaces were introduced by \textit{R. J. Whitley} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 113, 252--261 (1964; Zbl 0124.06603)] in order to find conditions for the conjugate of an operator to be strictly singular or strictly cosingular.'' A list of examples of subprojective and superprojective Banach spaces can be found in [\textit{M. González} et al., Ann. Acad. Sci. Fenn., Math. 36, No. 2, 481--491 (2011; Zbl 1232.47015)], Propositions 2.4 and 3.4. For instance, \(c_0\), \(\ell_p\) for \(1<p<\infty\) and \(L_p[0,1]\) for \(1<p\leq 2\) are superprojective; \(c_0\), \(\ell_p\) for \(1\leq p<\infty\) and \(L_p[0,1]\) for \(2\leq p<\infty\) are subprojective. The paper under review is mainly dedicated to study superprojective Banach spaces. Among many other results, it is shown that these spaces cannot contain copies of \(\ell_1\), that a \(C(K)\) space is superprojective if and only if the compact topological space \(K\) is scattered, and that \(L_p[0,1]\hat{\otimes}_\pi L_q[0,1]\) is not superprojective for any \(1\leq p,q\leq \infty\). Besides, some stability properties for superprojectivity are established: that a finite direct sum of superprojective spaces is again superprojective, that the \(E\)-sum of a sequence of superprojective spaces is superprojective if and only if the unconditional sequence space \(E\) is superprojective, and that \(X\hat{\otimes}_\varepsilon Y\) is superprojective if \(X\) and \(Y\) are \(c_0\) or \(\ell_p\) for \(1<p<\infty\).
