When \(X\) is a \(v\)-set, a hybrid triple system of order \(v\) on \(X\) is a set of transitive and/or cyclic triples so that every ordered pair from \(X\) belongs to exactly one triple. It is pure if no two distinct triples have all three elements in common. An overlarge set of pure hybrid triple systems of order \(v\) is a partition of all cyclic and transitive triples of a \((v+1)\)-set into pure hybrid triple systems of order \(v\). Such an overlarge set is shown to exist if and only if \(v \equiv 0,1 \pmod{3}\) and \(v > 3\).
