The article under review explores the properties of a symplectic analog of the Quot scheme used in the construction of the moduli of bundles over curves and in the study of vortex equations. Let \(X\) be a compact connected Riemann surface and let \(E_{0}:=\mathcal{O}_{X}^{\oplus 2r}\). Denote by \(\omega_{0}\) the symplectic structure on \(E_{0}\) given fiber wise by the standard symplectic form in \(\mathbb{C}^{2r}\). We call symplectic quot scheme to the scheme \(\mathcal{Q}(\omega_{0},d)\) parametrizing torsion quotients \(\tau_{Q}: E_{0}\rightarrow Q\) of degree \(dr\) which are compatible with \(\omega_{0}\) in the sense of \(\omega_{0}|_{\ker(\tau(Q))}\) vanishes in an effective divisor of degree \(d\) associated to \(Q\). Using the relation between \(\mathcal{Q}\) and the \(\mathrm{Sym}^{d}(X)\), Lemma 1 shows that \(\mathcal{Q}\) is irreducible and calculates its dimension. Theorem 2 proves that the component containing the identity, \(\Aut(\mathcal{Q})^{0}\), of the holomorphic automorphisms of \(\mathcal{Q}\), is isomorphic to the projective symplectic group \(\mathrm{PSp}(2r,\mathbb{C})\). Corollary 3 shows a sort of Torelli theorem, stating that the curve \(X\) is uniquely determined by \(\mathcal{Q}\), except if \(\mathrm{genus}(X)=d=2\).
