A \(k\)-arc in a projective plane of order \(q\) is a set of \(k\) points no three of which are collinear. A \(k\)-arc is called complete if it is not contained in a \((k+1)\)-arc. A complete arc in a projective plane of order \(q\) has at least \(\sqrt{2q}\) points. The author shows the existence of complete \(k\)-arcs having \(k<C\sqrt q\log^ 2_ 2q\) points in certain André-planes of odd square order \(q\) \((C\) is a constant). Moreover author's construction shows that for all \(x\), \(q>x>\sqrt q\log_ 2q\) there are complete \(k\)-arcs with \(x<k<Cx\log_ 2q\), for some absolute constant \(C\).
