    Let \(E\) be a linear space over \(\mathbb{R}\) and let \(\rho(x)\) be the \(\ell^n_p\)-norm in \(\mathbb{R}^n\). A function \(f: E\to\mathbb{C}\) is called definite if \(\sum^n_{k,j=1} c_k\overline c_jf(x_k- x_j)\geq 0\) for all \(n\in\mathbb{N}\), \(x_k\in E\), \(c_k\in\mathbb{C}\) for \(k= 1,2,\dots, n\). The main result states that if \(f\) is positive positive definite on \(E\) and \(\lim_{t\to+0} (f(0)- f(tx))t^\lambda= \delta\rho^\lambda(x)\) for some \(\lambda>0\), \(\delta> 0\) and all \(x\in E\), then the function \((\exp(- \rho^\lambda(x)))\) is also positive definite on \(E\) and there holds the inequality \[ |\rho^\lambda(x+ y)+ \rho^\lambda(x- y)- 2\rho^\lambda(x)|\leq 2\rho^\lambda(y) \] for all \(x,y\in E\). Further results are included. No proofs are given.
