The topology of moduli spaces of polygons with fixed side lengths in the Euclidean plane is studied. A duality between the spaces of marked Euclidean polygons with fixed side length and marked convex polygons with prescribed angles is established. Editorial remark: This is a reprint of [J. Differ. Geom. 42, No. 1, 133--164 (1995; Zbl 0847.51026)] which was accidentally printed without figures.
