Batalin-Vilkovisky coalgebra of string topology (Q600628)

Let \(M\) be a simply connected closed oriented manifold. The authors show that the reduced Hochschild homology of the free loop space \(LM\) relative to the constant loops has the structure of a Batalin-Vilkovisky coalgebra. As a consequence the equivariant homology of \(LM\) relative to the constant loops has the structure of a gravity coalgebra. This follows from general results on the reduced Hochschild homology of a commutative DG Frobenius algebra. The authors prove that the reduced Hochschild homology of a commutative DG Frobenius algebra has the natural structure of a Batalin-Vilkovitsky coalgebra and the reduced cyclic homology has the structure of a gravity coalgebra.
