The following variation of earlier results by Camina is proved: Let \(G\) be a finite group which has a 2-element of index (= the index of its centralizer in \(G\)) \(2^a\), where \(2^a\) is the maximal power of 2 which divides the index of any \(\{2,q\}\)-element of \(G\), where \(q\) is an arbitrary odd prime dividing \(|G|\). Then \(G\) is 2-nilpotent (and thus solvable).
