Let \(\text{Cl}_{\text{loc}}(X)\) denote the lattice of \text{loc}al clones over a countably infinite set \(X\). It is proven that every algebraic lattice with a countable number of compact elements is a complete sublattice of \(\text{Cl}_{\text{loc}}(X)\) (Theorem 5), that \(\text{Cl}_{\text{loc}}(X)\) is not embeddable into any algebraic lattice with countably many compact elements (Corollary 13), that the lattice \(M_{2^\omega}\) is isomorphic to a sublattice of \(\text{Cl}_{\text{loc}}(X)\) (Theorem 14). It is not known, for example, whether every lattice of finite height which has cardinality \(2^{\aleph_0}\) can be embedded into \(\text{Cl}_{\text{loc}}(X)\) (Problem 20).
